Company Background
Since its inception, Merchantville Overhead Door has enjoyed a long history dating back to 1936. In 1936, two brothers, Theodore Hermanns, a sales representative of Overhead Door Corporation and Henry Hermanns, a union ironworker from Cleveland, Ohio, decided to combine their skills and opened Merchantville Overhead Door. Throughout the last 85 plus years, Merchantville Overhead Door has remained a family-owned and operated business for 4 generations.
4 Generations
After WWII, brothers Robert Hermanns Sr. and Henry Hermanns Jr., both veterans of that war, assumed ownership and expanded the product line to include rolling steel doors and other related products. In 1988, Robert Jr. and Edward Sr. took over and now continue with the fourth generation adding Edward Jr. to the staff. To this day, at age 94, Robert Sr. still comes to work to help provide guidance and support.
An Award-Winning Company
Over the years, Merchantville Overhead Door has achieved many milestones and awards, among them more recently in 1996. Merchantville Overhead Door was the first company in the state of New Jersey to become an Accredited Door Dealer by the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA). In 2000, Edward Hermanns Sr. was appointed as Board of Directors of IDEA and served as President from 2008-2010. In 2011, Merchantville Overhead Door received the coveted Heritage Award from the International Door Association (IDA). In 2014, Ed Hermanns Sr. was voted onto the Board of Directors and served as President from 2017-2019.

Highly recommend! Called early on a Saturday morning, and they immediately came out to look at our garage door. They showed us everything that needed to be repaired, and discussed pricing with us. Pricing was great! All repairs were completed within the hour. Once everything was complete, they showed us everything that had been repaired and explained to us how to keep it maintained!
